So I often say that my children make my life and this is the truth. Nothing can compare to the love that they give me or the enjoyment that I have from them.
I came home to sleeping little ones, and my oldest ready to have some one on one mommy time. She is amazing! I tell you this girl is going to be somebody huge in the medical field someday, and I will proudly applaud when she finds the cure for cancer (her goal not mine).
Anyway shocking as it may sound she is a bit of a ham, (ya I know one of my kids with a personality? noway). Well after telling me about how she is voting for Julio a boy in her class because he is using the Napoleon Dynamite "Julio will offer you his protection". It was time for her to tell me about how in drama her and her best buddy had to come up with a sketch on a public service announcement.
Now her being my daughter and with the gift of confidence, she and her friend decided to make an announcement on why Otter's need can openers!!! Oh ya you heard me right, they came up with their own campaign on the need for Otter's to get can openers!
This was hysterical! From her acting like a hungry Otter and not being able to access her clam with out a can opener I was dying! She is so funny and quick witted, and her little friends I can tell are benefiting from this self esteem that she has too.
It was while she acted out her sketch, and then continued to speak about the rest of her day, I thought to myself "Amber you are rocking this mommy gig!" Now of course I can say that I am not the best at many things, but I will say this when it comes to those babies I will not settle for nothing less than the best. They need the best confidence, love, security, and support that I can give them and I do this and do this well.
Now after she continued on to how she loves her new teachers, how she mastered a 9th grade math problem, and how she loves chimichangas in her lunch, and oh mom thanks for the note it made my whole table laugh! I was met with the thought and the fact that there sits an amazing young lady, and soon these talks will happen on the phone instead of while I paint her nails and she paints my toes. This breaks my heart, but in the same sense I hope for her to reach the dreams that she has, and thrives in all she trys to achieve.
Because after all you can only say your job as a mommy was done and done right when your little ones are able to leave the nest and fly straight up the mountain.
